Rally North Wales Preview

The 2023 West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters Challenge gets off to a start this weekend with a return to the stages of the Get Jerky Rally North Wales. Some classic stages are in store for our registered contenders and heading the crews will be new recruits Rudi Lancaster and Guy Weaver in their regular Ford Escort RS1800, Guy straight off the back of a win in West Cork with Duncan Williams. Barry Stevenson-Wheeler and John Pickavance are also up for a season of variety with us in the smart Metric Services Mk2 Escort. Jonathan Brace will be out for revenge after engine failure stalled his challenge on the final round in the Forest of Dean last year, he and Paul Spooner out again in the immaculate Brace’s Bread Mk1 Escort RS1600.

Ben and Steven Smith have registered again, the pair proved to be extremely rapid last year and could spring a few surprises in their Mk1 Escort. Newcomers James Potter and Bob Duck bring their Escort to the scene and this well seasoned pairing could pick up useful points before the next few rounds of the championship which already have their entries open. The Rally Nuts Stages already has a number of other registered contenders making their season debut whilst the asphalt aces already have their entries in for the Dixies Challenge and the double scoring Manx Rally. It looks as if it will be an interesting season.
