THE HRCR CLUBMAN’S BEGINNERS ROAD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP 2026

In Partnership with Classic and Sports car Magazine and Supported by Brantz Rally Meters with Vintage Tyres.

Equally challenging and enjoyable for both driver and navigator, the 2026 HRCR Clubman’s Beginner Series is a great way to enjoy using your historic vehicle.

Introduction to Historic Road Rallying

The Clubmans Championship Beginners Series serves as an excellent gateway for individuals interested in Historic Road Rallying. Specifically designed for those new to the sport, the series provides a straightforward and accessible entry point, allowing beginners to develop their skills and understanding of rallying in a supportive environment.

Entry Requirements

To participate in the Beginners Series, competitors are only required to hold a free Clubmans Licence. This low barrier to entry ensures that the series is accessible to newcomers who may not have previous experience in rallying. The series is intended to act as a stepping stone, helping entrants gain the necessary experience and confidence to progress to the more advanced Interclub Championship.

Event Format

The structure of events in the Beginners Series closely aligns with those found in the Interclub Championship. Often, the same routes and special tests are utilised, providing participants with a genuine rallying experience. However, unlike the Interclub events, competitors in the Beginners Series are not required to plot their own course. Instead, they are provided with a marked map or a tulip roadbook, making navigation more straightforward. While timing remains an element of the competition, the primary emphasis is on accurately following the designated route throughout the event.

Eligibility Criteria

The Championship is open to constituted crews who have recorded four or fewer finishes in either the Interclub or HERO red and black events. Consideration is also given to individuals who are unable to obtain an Interclub Licence due to medical reasons, provided that suitable proof can be supplied if requested. In addition, all participants must be members of the HRCR and must register for the Beginner’s championship to obtain points from the listed events.

Competition Classes and Vehicle Requirements

All competitors in the Beginners Series compete within a single class, irrespective of the age of their vehicle. The vehicle requirements for the Beginners Series are exactly the same as those stipulated for the Interclub Championship, ensuring consistency and clarity across both levels of competition.

Further details and the full regulations for the Beginners Series can be found within the Championship regulations, which are accessible via the link below.
