Argyll Stages Preview
The weekend of June 23rd/24th brings the closed road, double header event for the HRCR Mini Cup Stages. As ever Mull Car Club promotes this closed road rally taking advantage of the relatively new Government legislation.
The event kicks off on Friday with two runs in Dunoon town centre followed by a further six stages one of which is new to this year’s rally.
Saturday’s tests comprise of a loop of four stages run twice giving competitors a total stage mileage of seventy miles over the two days.
Series leader Clive King & Anton Bird will, no doubt be hoping to consolidate their lead but the trailing pack will be in hot pursuit including son Craig having missed the last round. Also absent from the Dixies Challenge, John Nicholson & Kari Bates will be hoping to add to their Agbo points.
Mechanical maladies forced Harvey Stevens & family to retire from Epynt but they too are out to rid the mini of gremlins and pick up some much-needed points on the Scottish highways.
The dark horses of the pack having retired with fuel issues on the Agbo and a non-entry at Dixies are Shane Gamble & Bob Ward in their newly built B2 car who’ll certainly be hoping to make amends as the circus heads north for the weekend.
