HRCR crews were out in force on this years HERO Summer Trial. This years event based in Shrewsbury covered the myriad lanes of Shropshire and over 3 days culminated in a thrilling finish.

Sunday coffee halt results stood with leaders Claire and Christopher Day Mini Cooper S ahead of Anita Wickins and Malcolm Dunderdale Renault 8 Gordini in third Sally and Nigel Woof Triumph TR4.

The tricky navigation of the afternoon saw a close to perfect performance by Anita to bring the Renault home first, pipping the mini into second. Unfortunately a wrong slot saw the Woofs tumble from the top 3 and the improving Sarah and Ken Binstead Healey 300 move up into third place.

The final splits of 10 and 8 seconds showed what a tight event this was, so apart from the navigators fighting to keep the seconds down there was a vital battle in the class delineated tests. The Days triumphed here but could not gain a significant margin over a determined Dunderdale/Wickins to clinch the day.

So overall a great event in lovely scenery and good weather. Like the Lionesses  recent victory it certainly highlighted the effectiveness of women in our sport.
If you are a couple new to regularity rallying certainly consider joining the HRCR the Clubman events and a great starting point is the training day February 2026.
