When you think of the `Gremlin` you think of an iconic road rally in the 70`s and 80`s using the best roads that Mid and South Wales has to offer. I remember competing on the Gremlin 4/5 times in the late 70`s with Roger Powley (Leigh`s dad). We finished 2nd overall in 1978 and I would like to think we can get somewhere near that result this year. However the entry list is a who`s who of historic rallying and it will be a very competitive event. 

All the championship contenders are there including Willan, Crosby, Powley, Griffiths, Steele and Crammond with the addition of top class crews who are coming to play out for the day such as Paul Dyas, Owen Turner, John Able, Ryan Pickering, Andy Lane and Noel Kelly. Darrell Staniforth is back from his hols and don`t discount Gavin Rogers who was close to victory on the St. Wilfrids. Who can win? – could be any of the above.

As to the Experts, Les Andrew had a great result on the St. Wilfreds but that has now moved him into the Master class. Hugh Garnish wasn`t far behind and he will be looking for another good result. Ken Jones is back in a Cortina GT and Clare Grove has Suzanne Barker on the maps both hoping the ladies can upstage the gents.

Paul Heaney heads the novice class in the HRCR championship and will be hoping for a good result. He will be closely chased by Phil Cheek and Paul Bloxidge. Rikki Proffitt is bringing out his quick Porsche 911RS and will be flying over the ranges hopefully keeping it on its wheels!

Martin Leonard has promised a different rally to what most HRCR regulars are used to. How this will differ we will have to wait and see. There will be tests and regularities over both the tarmac and gravel roads on Epynt using different navigational formats. He has also promised it will be most enjoyable – can`t wait……………..
