Motorsport News joins celebration of the Motoring News Championship at HRCR Open Day Gaydon on 9th January
The Historic Rally Car Register and Motorsport News have teamed up to celebrate a golden era of rallying during the annual HRCR Open Day on Saturday January 9.
A key feature of the Open Day, which is held at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon in Warwickshire, will be a celebration of the Motoring News Road Rally Championship of the 1960s and 1970s. The day will also feature a look back at the RAC International Rally of Great Britain from the 1950s and early 1960s.
Motorsport News is proud to become the event’s official media partner for what is the traditional kick-off event for the historic rallying calendar. The Open Day starts at 0930hrs and has free admission for everyone with an interest in historic rallying, whatever their role.
The day brings together competitors, enthusiasts, organisers, clubs and traders, along with a display of some special rally cars. Events and championship organisers are among 50 trade stands to give prospective competitors a chance to start planning the season ahead.
Several notable cars from the history of the Motoring News Road Rally Championship will be on display, including the Triumph TR7 V8 of Neil Jones and the Opel Ascona of Theo Bengrey. In coming issues, Motorsport News will take a closer look at some of the cars that will be on show at Gaydon. As well as the headline cars, a number of other period rally cars will be on show outside the halls.
Matt James, editor of Motorsport News, said: “We are delighted to team up with the HRCR to remember a golden era of rallying. The Open Day is a perfect event for early January and gives everyone a chance to start planning the coming year. We’ll be there with back issues, subscription deals and more, and we hope to meet many fellow enthusiasts.”
