EAST ANGLIA CALLING – New HRCR Local Area

Are there enough of us to form a new HRCR Area Group?

The Iceni, Gywre, Angles and – I really do like this one – the Wuffingas,  were a few of the ancient tribes that once populated the bump on the far right hand side of England. But no Historicus Rally Car Registras!

It seems those of us in Suffolk and Norfolk have not had any camp fire to gather round and chew over the bones of old-time rallying for at least the last 1,000 years. So about starting an HRCR tribe of East Anglia?

Whilst living in Gloucestershire, I enjoyed attending the Dean and the Marches group under the auspices of Paul Loveridge. I then moved to south of Bedford and into Northants and Beds area, with chairman David Holmes and a truly excellent monthly newsletter. But the self-imposed ‘no go’ area that is the M1 made it somewhat distant. Now I’m firmly established in Suffolk and find no nearby HRCR natter at all.

So those of you out there in Norfolk and Suffolk (even Essex at a pinch) are there enough of us to make it all worthwhile?

Anyone in the region fancy a regular meet-up at some watering hole that does not make travelling too time consuming? Let me know you’re interested – give me your location and contact details, and if we can muster a worthwhile number I’ll set things in motion. The HRCR has already given me an email address to make life easy for us all. Please get in touch.

Meanwhile, I’ll set about the arduous task of trying to find a nice pub with meeting room and good car park that may be suitable. It’s a tough life…
