This year’s event will revolve around Reservoirs, at least 6 in all!

Saturday Day 1.

Section 1.

From the start we head out on A roads before turning left at Llanwrthwl following the

picturesque winding road to Elan Village onto the Elan Valley. On route we pass by

Caban-coch, Claerwen, Garreg-ddu and Craig Goch reservoirs before arriving at Devil’s Bridge for a lunch halt.

Section 2.

From here we take in a pleasant little loop off the A44 passing by Pond Rhosrydd

followed by a run around the mighty Nant-y-Moch reservoir and the enchanting road

through the Llyfnant valley to the afternoon tea halt in Machynlleth.

Section 3.

The route will then follow the Afon Dulas River before climbing over the hill passing Meml viewpoint dropping down to Stay little and around the Llyn Clywedog Reservoir by Hafren forest and onto Llanidloes. We then take a leisurely route on the B4518 over Oldchapel Hill to Pant-y-dwr turning left to Abbey Cwm Hir and Crossgates to the Metropole Hotel for our evening meal.

 

Sunday Day 2.

Today’s route will take in more traditional moorland and classic roads including some

new areas above Brechfa forest that we have not visited before.

Section 1.

Leaving the Metropole, we travel along the A483 to Builth Wells and head off on the

B4520 turning left before Upper Chapel onto the B4519 to Garth and then to Tirabad

across the Epynt Military area for a welcome lunch halt at Fedw farm.

Section 2.

From here we travel down the only dual carriageway in Powys to join the A40 through Halfway forest area to a major period drovers’ town of Llandovery. Leaving here we travel through Siloh, Porthrhyd, Llansawel and the open moorland road over Mynydd Llanbythyr skirting Brechfa Forest. The A 485 takes us through Llanbydder to our afternoon tea halt in Lampeter.

Section 3.

The route leaves Lampeter onto the B4343 following the River Teifi to Tregaron. We then travel over the famous Abergwesyn mountain road taking in the devil’s staircase to Beulah. From here we travel along the B4358 to Newbridge on Wye`and onto the event finish at the Metropole.
