HRCR Premier Rally Championship 2016.

Now in its second year the Premier Rally Championship, Philip Young’s last idea, kicked off in style at the Open day at Gaydon. With contender numbers almost at last year’s number in the first month it’s looking to be a great year.

With a few changes to this year’s championship including a class structure including Expert, Semi-Expert and Novice crews as well as extra awards for best performances in each discipline, the popularity of this championship seems to be increasing.

A few new names have signed up already this year including HERO Cup 2015 runner up (by only 1 point!) Stephen Owens as well as Ian Canavan whose experience on Classic events is growing and growing with each event.

The top runners of last year, Iain Tullie and Andy Pullan are also back in it for 2016 and with a lot more forms to come in the championship looks to exceed last year.

Thank you once again to Ed Graham and Richard Crozier who stood in my place at the open day while I was away. The day was as busy as ever and the interest in the championship is promising!

A couple people are starting early with points being submitted already. Alan Wakeman came away with 8th overall on the Winter Classic running on the Targa permit as well as Graham Couser entering the first official event, the Aquarius and coming in at a very respectable 4th overall! With Richard Crozier also picking up organiser points, that gives us 3 contenders with points just 24 days into 2016.

Next up is the Bruce Robinson Road Rally on the 6th of February, with 21 entries already, 5 of which are championship contenders, there is still plenty of space to get your entries in.
