Stage Masters: 3 Shires Stages Preview

Hills Ford 3 Shires Stages Preview

Sunday September 17th 2023

It’s been a breathtaking three weeks as our West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters Challenge crews now head for Ledbury for the Hills Ford 3 Shires Stages. The stages are predominantly the same as the last time the event ran with the exception of a few different chicanes and covers closed roads in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Baz Wheeler and John Pickavance are first seeded Challenge crew, they merely need to cruise around to collect points but if Ceredigion is anything to go by, they will be challenged hard by Hywel ‘Post’ Davies and Ian Jones. Both crews are in Escort RS1800s and both are capable of putting in good times, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Graham Muter and Steve Allmark are back out too after a bitter sweet Ceredigion experience with just starters points one day after retiring their Ford Escort on the first stage and full points on the Sunday. Andrew O’Hanlon and Kevin Hogan pushed their Mini to the limit on the Manx Rally earlier in the year and will undoubtedly have the bit between their teeth again this weekend. Rounding off our Challengers are Stuart Anderson and Kenny Owen who bring some more welcome variety in the shape of a very nice Vauxhall Chevette HS, a recent shakedown on the Mewla Rally will see them well prepared for this event.
