HRCR Mintex ‘old STAGER’ Asphalt Stage Rally Championship 2016 incorporating the Mini Sport Mini Challenge.
Title: ‘old Stager’ contenders to take on asphalt of Caerwent
After a short break, sixteen HRCR registered crews will take on the asphalt of RAF Caerwent for the Garth Tyre Auto Services Midsummer Caerwent Rally, just the other side of Chepstow on Sunday 19th June 2016.
Renowned for its high and unforgiving curbs and its stages through the old Army buildings, Caerwent attracts a good entry including eleven Minis to compete on the 65 stage miles of 6 stages. Unfortunately, this is a non-spectator event due to the nature of the property.
Stuart Anderson replaces his normal Co Driver, his son Jack, with Daniel Nieroda leaving others to catch up on navigator points. They will set off seeded 30th. Jon Ford / Peter Thomas are back in their Escort RS2000 hoping to gain some more points in their championship quest along with Dick Mauger / Steve Mcnulty is their Escort going shortly after Jon in 26th place.
Lee / Sean Sellars will be out looking to bed down the new suspension on the Triumph 2.5 PI, with Sean hoping to feel better on this event after Down Ampney.
Lanica Fulvia team of the Harrison pairing will complete the line up of the categories.
The usual Mini crews will head out all trying to score more points and prove who the best Mini crew are. King Clive / Anton Bird lead the pack away seeded at 50th followed by Eric Davis / Russell Joseph, Russell returning to co-drive after missing the last event. Adrian Kermode / Maurice Beckett are next looking for another win, Andrew O’Hanlon / Ryan Taylor and Jim Brindle / Sam Bould all follow suit.
Shane Gamble / Bob Ward, Paul Price, Peter Ellerby, Stuart Hart / Josh Jones, Nigel Hart / Lyndon Mougton are seeded from 61st to 69th with Paul and Jemma Taylor completing the Mini’s.
Missing off the entry list is Stephen Hall and Aggie Foster after their engine decided to lose oil pressure on the last event. Simon Malins / Colin Tombs are also missing from the usual line up due to fueling issues. Jonathan and Nigel Bennett are another casualty of Down Ampney along with Steve Griggs in his mini. Martin Melling / Carmel Venables are also missing, having to patch up their mini after an ‘off’ on the last round.
The Event starts at 9:15 on Sunday for more info http://www.southwalesac.com/events/midsummer-stages/
