Preview – Tour of Epynt 20th & 21st July 2024

The military training area at Sennybridge, west of Brecon is more commonly known as The Epynt Ranges and is the host of Port Talbot Motor Clubs Tour of Epynt Stages Rally.

This year due to its popularity PTMC have taken the decision to run over two days and as the name suggests uses the whole of the available area.

HRCR boast eight registered members of the Mini Cup and four Category 1 contenders looking to pit their talents against this most historic venue.

The last event of the Championships, the Argyll Stages posed several questions of crew and car with the usually consistent Craig King/Craig Hardiman crashing out during the evening session and the head gasket of Eric Davies/Russell Joseph’s Mini deciding enough was enough after day 1.

Both crews having to burn the midnight oil in readiness for Epynt!

Relatively local crew in their ultra reliable TR4, Stephan Hall/Aggie Foster led the HRCR runners home seeing off a late and spirited drive by Clive King/Ian Harrop to extend their lead in Cat 1.

Kidderminster pairing of Harvey Stevens/Lawrence Selly had what is their best result to date with Shane Gamble/Kevin Hogan having a steady run to enhance their championship position.

And Then There Were Four!

The regulars won’t be having it all their own way on the Epynt as local crew Ken Pryce/Don James will certainly be up for the challenge as will newly registered, Berkshire based crew of Kevin Haselden/Gary Evans.

Another good showing for The Club That Goes Historic Rallying.
