Preview – Agbo Stages Rally Sunday March 17th

Well! Here we go again and our traditional championship opener in the Owen Motoring Club promoted, Land & Estate Maintenance AGBO STAGES RALLY 2024.

This ever-popular event has certainly underlined the first-come-first-served mantra with entries filling up within the first hour of going live. Fortunately, our regulars are as quick off the mark administratively are they are on the stage as we’ve a healthy complement of nine Minis entered and one very close to top of the reserve list.

The usual pairing and last season’s champions Clive King/Anton Bird will be joined by son Craig King and his new co-driver Craig Hardiman together with Shane Gamble and his as yet unnamed co-driver hoping for a cleaner run after his fuel issues last year.

The regular crew of Harvey Stevens partnered by Lawrence Selly and Monmouthshire man Stuart Hart with his new co-driver Hannah Mitchell also intending to pick up where they left off. Trevor Hancock will be joined by Fraser Gillan for this year’s event after a good showing last year.

The other usual team of Eric Davies and Russell Joseph also joining the fray in their class winning car of 2023.

2022 Champion Ryan Taylor has returned after a years’ break this time partnered by Leon Carter with dad, Paul and sister Gemma making it another family affair.

Another family crew of Michael and Megan Barratt eagerly waiting in the wings being toward the top of the reserve list should make the cut on the day.

Behind the scenes we’ve been blessed with securing support from the Mini dynasty of Dennis Motorsport at Old Forge Garage, Hay-on-Wye and Adrain Hardy of Stourbridge based engine component suppliers, MAR Motorsport adding to our perennial supporters at Exol, Mintex, Snap On & Questmead.

Given our new supporters and the return of some past contenders we’re in for yet another cracking competition in 2024.
