Mini Cup – Tour of Epynt preview

Tour of Epynt Preview

Sunday July 30th brings the second of two visits to the military training area at Sennybridge, only this time Port Talbot Motor Clubs Tour of Epynt supported by Nigel Ferguson Fabrications will utilise most of the range roads available making it quite a challenge on the big pulls up and over the Eastern Ridge.

The competition starts on the Sunday but is preceded on Saturday by the usual scrutineering formalities and crews will be given the opportunity of a full recce.

A healthy contingent of seven crews will take the start line although I’m assured that there’s always room to squeeze another one in………. but don’t leave it too late.

Clerk of the Course, Alan Stoneman has offered an under 1600cc Historic Class that’ll suit the members better and at the time of writing that class will be a mini-fest so at least we’ll be free of those pesky screaming Micras.

Clive King still leads the championship but had it all to do at Argyll with son Craig taking the honours on day one and Shane Gamble will be desperately trying to turn his fortunes around after engine failure out on the west coast event.

Whilst the change of date didn’t suit everyone Harvey Stevens was delighted working around the family holiday and even the northern crew of John Nicholson/Kari Bates are making the long journey but not just to make up the numbers!

Competition will be stiff however with local crews and experienced Epynt regulars Ken Pryce/Don James and Eric Davies/Russell Joseph all looking to utilise their experience at this formidable venue.
