Northern Ireland’s Stanley Orr with Guy Weaver in the navigator seat have been involved in a season long battle with Shawn Rayner and Declan Dear who will once again sitting along side him, they have been a class above the rest throughout the year and are separated by just a few points.
The challenge started back in March in the snow of mid Wales forest since then a further six rounds have taken place including the military ranges on Epynt and the fast flowing lanes of the Isle of Man, coupled with the classic forest stages in mid Wales and the slippy Forest of Dean.
The challenge has seen a wide variety of machinery including the BMW 1800 of Bill Douglas, the mark one Cortina of Bob Gibbons, the minis of Pete Ellerby and Clive King, the Porsche 911s of Dessie Nutt and Rikki Proffitt through to the Opel Ascona of Paul Kynaston.
Many have registered to compete in the highlight of the season the Killarney historic stages with the iconic Moll’s Gap stage being on the bucket list of many competitors keen at the chance to compete on some of the worlds best rally stages is a must.
A fitting end to the first year with 2017 looking to be equally as good, West Wales Rally Spares has already confirmed their backing the series and now a deal has be done to confirming forest rallying will continue next year coupled with other a return to the Isle of Man for two point scoring rounds to provide a challenge to the crews and to support historic rallying in the UK.
