The Hughes Rally preview

The Hughes Rally organised by Blackpalfrey Motor Club is our next HRCR / MSN Championship round, starting and finishing at The Moat, Wrotham, Kent
The entry of 55 cars is bolstered by the inclusion of 17 modern day cars running in the Clubman Class, it’s always difficult to get the “Northern Mafia” (I can say this as I’m one of them) to make the long journey South
Concentrating on the Historics, the Masters and overall positions are likely to be contested by Ian Crammond/Matt Vokes (Merc 280SL), the Bricknells (Golf GTi), Isherwood/Canavan (Golf GTi) and Mellings/Carr (MR2) but don’t discount the new pairing of Owens/Bloxham (Porsche 356), the Whyte sisters (Datsun Stanza), the Rogers (Scimtar) and returnees Griffiths/Howell (Mini 1275GT)
In the Experts class it may well be a Volvo battle with Steele/Pitt (144) taking on the Willcocks (122S) both likely to be chased by Donaldson and the “evergreen” Peter Rushforth (MGB). For the Novice class it’s hard to see who will beat the Binsteads (MGB), other notable entries include Nick van Praag in the lighting quick Austin A35 and Stuart Anderson in the mighty 1937 Bentley Derby teamed up with Anji Martin

The “guest car” will be driven by Andy Dawson so expect to see that sideways through most of the tests, sorry Andy it’s not a Stratos!

Last year we were entertained with 9 miles of off road regularity in Mereworth Woods, please can we do that again!
