Sprinting Over the Hill – April Update

Well! The Augment Automotive Speed Series has at last rested from its slumbers when two intrepid contenders headed to a venue usually graced with other forms of horse power to take on Liverpool Motor Clubs’ Aintree Sprint.

Paul Boscott tackling what is his first year in the series in his Lotus Elan was joined by Peter Houghton in the 1275cc Mini to enjoy the Cheshire sunshine.

A generous entry of some 170 cars entered into the fray so any result against such a huge field is worth a mention and no more so than Pauls 2nd in Class award against a well driven Austin Healy 3000.

Considering Peters lack of cubic capacity he put in some creditable times but for all this was not able to make the final run.

We next head west for the first of the Welsh Double Headers taking in the Llandow Sprint on Saturday May 13th followed by the picturesque Llys-y-Fran Hill Climb where several more entries have already been received, even though the sprint event clashes with the silver jubilee running of the Leukaemia Rally in Chepstow – West is Best!

Damon Green being one such competitor being torn between the two events and just to show his commitment toward the more gentlemanly hill climbing fraternity has kindly sent us a photo of the “blue bus” at Shelsley Walsh a couple of years ago.

Best wishes to Damon on the Dark Side and looking forward to his return unscathed.

My loyalties, too are divided being a part of the original organising team for “The Leuk” but the light has shone through so I’ll see you in the wilds of West Wales.
