HRCR Mintex Old STAGER inc Mini Sport Mini Challenge 1st Round

THE HRCR Mintex ‘old STAGER’ Championship 2017 incorporating
the Mini Sport Mini Cup & Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup

The old STAGER Championship kicks off on the 19th March with the AGBO Stages Rally at Weston Park Shropshire

The First Round of the HRCR Mintex ‘old STAGER’ Asphalt Historic Rally Championship incorporating the Mini Sport Mini cup & Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup takes place on March 19th with the AGBO Stages organised by Owen Motoring Club. The Championship once again returns to the Weston Park, Shropshire event after its first inclusion in the championship last year.

Weston Park is a country house in Weston-under-Lizard, Shropshire set in more than 1,000 acres (4.0 km2) of park landscaped by Capability Brown. The estate features many tarmac roads ideally suited to the HRCR old STAGER sealed surface championship. This ever popular event has a full entry with plenty of reserves to take the place of any last minute withdrawals.

The old STAGER Championship has 20 crews out on the day of which 17 are Minis entered in the Mini Sport Mini Cup. The other 3 crews are new comers to the championship, Steven Powell/Jamie Hawkins in their Hillman Avenger, Gareth Frank/Sam Spencer in their Vauxhall Firenza and Geoff Taylor / Stephen Green Hill will be out in their Hillman Imp Sport hoping to improve their result from last year.

Current Mini Sport Mini Cup Champion from 2016, Clive King/Anton Bird, will once again be backed by Mini Sport hoping to keep hold of his crown. However, it hasn’t been plain sailing as Clive has removed and installed his engine/gearbox more time than he cares to remember in the last few weeks trying to trace a transmission problem. Peter Ellerby has also been burning the midnight oil tracing a transmission problem. Andrew O’Hanlon has just had his engine rebuilt in the weeks coming up to the start of season hoping for better reliability this year. Locals Ian Clare/Antony Eikes will no doubt be looking for a good result as the event is right on their door step so a bit of local knowledge may come into play. Other regulars will include Shane Gamble out in his freshly built Mini, Rhodri Owens, Father and son, Stuart and Nigel Hart in their respective Mini’s, Jim Brindle & Martin Melling in his Open Class Mini.

The Event is a spectator friendly with information available from the cub website
