The Mintex ‘old Stager’ Championship and Mini Sport Mini Cup competitors will be back in action this weekend, over the roads of the Epynt military ranges.
Leading the Championship field away will be Stephen Hall and Aggie Foster in their rapid Triumph TR4 ahead of the RS2000 of Eifion Thomas and Jordan Wilkinson who were the leading non-Mini crew on the first round the AGBO stages. They will be challenged by the Escort of Paul Kendrick and Luke Green and the Avenger of Steven Powell and Jamie Hawkins.
The Mini Sport Mini Cup has attracted another first-class line up of 25 of these legendary cars which should be well suited to the narrow twisting roads of the ranges. Last years Championship winning crew Ray Cunningham and Jared Gill will lead them away but can be assured of plenty of pressure from the following crews including previous winner Clive King and Anton Bird, Jim Brindle and Sam Bould in the Clubman and Peter Ellerby and Ben Anderson. Closely following are the leading open class minis of John and Martin Cressey, current leaders Ryan Taylor and Hollie Churchill and Ian Clare Antony Elkes. Current Championship leading driver Lee Sellars who is normally seen out in his big Triumph 2.5PI has swapped seats to co drive Barry Stenhouse in a Mini.
Other crews to look out for are the all girl team of Louise Thomas and Heidi Woodcock rallying in aid of Marie Curie and the young Jack Hartley with Gary Dawes who compete for the Junior Cup in their basic specification 998cc Cooper in which they managed an amazing 22nd Overall on the AGBO Stages.
