Shon Gosling and his team at the HRCR north-west centre have nearly 50 entries for this “must do” event for beginners and experienced rally folk alike.
This year Ryan Pickering and Andy Pullan have joined the team and will be lecturing on navigation and regularity timing.
Geoff Doe will be talking about vehicle preparation and eligibility.
Don Barrow will be telling everyone about the various Gizmos and gadgets required for accurate plotting and time keeping
In the afternoon the group splits into “Beginners” and “Advanced”.
The “Beginners” will be driving a short Scenic Run and attempting a Special Test, having spent their lunch break plotting a route, while the “Advanced” group will focus on the art of navigation and Regularity timing, so I will be eaves dropping on that to learn some tricks I may have missed.
This is sure to be a full-on day.
On a completely different topic; Marcus Atkinson and his Team at Hagerty, who sponsor the 2017 HRCR Hagerty Insurance Clubmans Road Rally Championship, have offered to help us develop our social media and online content. They will help to spread the word about the HRCR, publicise events, and hopefully attract new people. You can help by sharing your stories, pictures and videos, not just from HRCR events but also anything else that you think may be interesting to historic vehicle enthusiasts. You don’t need to be on social media to do this, but can email firstname.lastname@example.org using “HRCR content” in the title. Hagerty will do their best to post what they can.
I would like to thank John Mayhead, Online Content Editor, at Hagerty Insurance for arranging this.
