Re:HRCR BBO: Resumption of monthly meetings commencing Tues 1st March !
A very long time since we last spoke and I hope you have all been able to escape the worst effects of the pandemic.
After a few false dawns, the coast is it seems, is finally clear and I’m delighted to announce that monthly meetings at the Gate, Bryant’s Bottom, will resume on Tuesday 1st of March.
As some of you might recall, that it was six years ago, January 2016 when I took over at Bill’s request. If you remember the first film I showed, was Pink Floyd on the 1992 Carrera Panamericana, which attracted a large crowd. I’m grateful to everyone who came and spoke about their adventures and I’ve enjoyed sharing my films and the odd trip with you guys. I hope those of you came on the 3 1/2 hour private tour of McLaren’s, fabulous F1 facility in Woking, enjoyed it as much as I did. I’ll bet you didn’t know their F1 Techical Director was on the Bryant’s Bottom mailing list…..I sure didn’t, until he responded !
As most of you know, I’d already decided, just before the pandemic hit, that after 50 meetings, it was time for a new face, to put a new perspective on the group and move the Historic Rally Car Register BBO forwards, with maybe a different approach.
I’m hitherto grateful, to regular attendee and competitor Ian Hutchinson, who has been bold enough to step forward and agree to move the meetings forward into what, possibly will be a new dawn for those of us active in road rallying. Covid has effected many changes to our lives and doubtless rallying will prevail, by adopting some of the good bits. Whatever changes come, we will definitely be motoring into interesting times and it’s clear everybody connected with the promotion of our sport, deserves our utmost support. If we are to preserve rallying’s proud and fine heritage for future generations, it’s up to each of us, to keep it going.
So the meeting next month will be be an informal gathering, where I might say a few words, but more importantly I will hand over to Ian and hopefully he will introduce himself a little more fully and maybe tell us how he might like to proceed.
I think it’s imperative we all show our support for our new Team Leader, as Bill and I surely will. I look forward to meeting as many as you as possible at 8.00 for 8.30. If any of you wish to support The Gate, by dining first as several of us are accustomed to, we should be there from 7.15.
Hopefully I see you all then and at the new 2022 meetings, from there on in.
NB I will be sharing, not only the equipment the mailing list with Ian, so please let me know if you would prefer your details removed.
Meetings are (normally) held first Tuesday of every month at: The Gate, Bryants Bottom Road, Great Missenden, Bucks, HP16 0JS.
To keep these evenings free, please come from 7 pm and take advantage of our hosts excellent food and beer!
