West Wales Rally Spares HRCR Stage Masters Challenge 2018 – UPDATE
There’s still all to play for despite the cancellation of the Rally Isle of Man, with Ken Davies and Alan Jones holding a commanding but not insurmountable overall lead.
There are still more than 80 points available it will all come down the Wyedean Rally in November and depending on results and entries the season finale in Killarney.
Championship secretary Andy Ballantyne said: “I would like to apologise to contenders for the disruption to this year’s calendar.
“We are already looking at suitable replacement events next year to ensure that the full calendar of events is run.”
In the Escort Cup the battle will continue between Jeff Wincott and Jason Gardner who both had strong beginnings with wins on the AGBO Stages and RallyNuts Stages respectively.
Steve Powell in his Hillman Avenger could also win if his plans to compete on the Killarney Stages comes to fruition. With 1.5 points available he could snatch the title depending on future results.
One competitor left frustrated at the cancellation of the Rally Isle of Man is Stuart Anderson who was hoping to open his campaign on the island scoring on the two rounds available.
His new Vauxhall Chevette is now tried and tested, and he was looking forward to competing on the stages, but is now likely to wait for a full-assault on the championship in 2019.
