HRCR Mintex old STAGER inc Mini Sport Mini Cup Update

2017 Mintex old STAGER Asphalt Historic Rally Championship incorporating the Mini Sport Mini Cup & Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup

After 3 rounds Clive King/Anton Bird lead both the old STAGER Championship and the Mini Sport Mini Cup competitions. In the old STAGER Championship Steven Powell is second in his Avenger and Nigel Allcock in a Triumph TR4 is in third. Great to see three different makes at the top of the leader board and not a Ford in sight! Our 2 Irish crews Ray Cunningham & Colin McDowell both in Minis have shown a great turn of speed this year and with a little more luck and mechanical reliability will be hot on the heels of Clive King.

This weekend sees 17 Minis fighting for the win on the Solway Coast Historic Rally on the Dundrennan Ranges in Southern Scotland. This first all historic event for the old STAGER Championship could see the first overall win for a Mini on a special stage rally for many years. Jack Hartley at 17 will be the youngest driver on the event in the Mini he is planning to use in next year’s Mini Sport Junior Mini Cup.

Looks like we have a strong entry on the Isle of Man with 17 crews already on the provisional entry list including 3 Minis for our friends from Japan. Their cars are already on the way to the UK and we received this message from Ritz:

Hello My dear friends. How are you? I am Ritz and I’m writing this in the USA though, I will be talking about the team and the 3 Minis. Finally, the three Minis from Team Japan (which are from Japan, by the way) are on their way to the Isle of Man! On 30th of June, they were shipped from the Port of Yokohama, and of course, they are already registered for the Rallee Calssicagh and Mini Cup.

We will be looking forward to see you all in September.

I enclose the photos which were taken at the Port of Yokohama on 30th of June.

Details of the final round of the championship The Ford Parts Cheviot Stages Rally on the 21st /22nd October have been released. The event will contain 60 miles of stages over the demanding roads of Otterburn within an overall route of 100 miles. With 1.5 times points to be won it could well be the decider for this year’s championship. The event guide can be downloaded Here
