Scenic Tours 2010
A series of social events promoted by the HRCR which gives the car owner, family members and/or friends an opportunity to use their pride & joy with no ‘competitive' element. In some cases there is the added incentive of doing the route using the minimum amount of fuel or guessing your fuel consumption and trying to stick to it, perhaps some code boards to find or manned passage checks. In most cases a full diagrammatic (tulip) road book is supplied, eliminating the need to read a map, some events may use other methods of navigation - although some people still like to follow the route on the local OS maps. Timing is only used to spread the entry out and is such that you can enjoy the scenery and even stop on route to enjoy the views or take pictures. The emphasis is on a relaxed, social, fun event in the company of like-minded people in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. No competition licences are required.
19th -21st March THE REGIS CLASSIC TOUR. A well established event but this is the first year it has been included in the HRCR Scenic Tours. Organised by the ladies of Bognor Regis Motor Club and has raised over £254,000 for cancer charities. This year the tour is heading into East Anglia and will be based at the very comfortable Belstead Brook Hotel to the South West of Ipswich. Arrive Friday night for signing on and an informal buffet dinner. On Saturday the tour will include coffee at Bateman's Barn, a "whistle-stop" visit to Classic Team Lotus, lunch at The English Whisky Distillery and a Cream Tea at Crows Hall before the Black Tie Gala "Masked Ball" Dinner. Sunday will include coffee at Belchamp Hall (where Lovejoy was filmed) and a run through the Suffolk lanes before the finish at Kentwell early afternoon where a hot farewel buffet will be served.
You can stay an extra night if you like and join an optional coach trip to Cliff Quay Micro brewery followed by currey in the adjacent Brewery Tap. Also for a donation to the charities visit JD Classics at Malden (Classic Jaguar specialist) on the Monday.

Starting from FROSTS GARDEN CENTRE Woburn Sands (we are always made to feel very welcome and their restaurant provides breakfast for us - either tea and toast or full English - at a special price). First stop Millbrook where this year we swapped the speed bowl for an extra lap of the Alpine Circuit. A new route will take you through part of Beds, Bucks, Oxfordshire and Northants with a coffee stop at Pro-Drive spiritual home of the Subaru WRC team and also Aston Martin Racing. Finally to round off the road run into the Porsche Driving Experience at their circuit at Silverstone - with the use of the full testing circuit , open cars will not need unbrellas as we will not use the "shower" section!
