D3 flyers ready to go for it in 2014.

Shawn Rayner and Declan Dear can't wait to get going in the 2014 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.

The pair showed incredible pace in 2013 battling hard, not just in class, but also with the more powerful C/D5 Escorts.

A fantastic 2013 saw them finish just outside the top 3 in the BHRC standings and who knows what might have been, had they not suffered an oil pump issue in Ireland.

The crew has made changes to the car for 2014 that they are confidant will prove to be the difference. "The car has had a total overhaul including fitting a new dry sump system, this we hope will help us on the asphalt rounds where oil surge can be a real problem." Said Rayner "We are really hopeful that in 2014 we can push on and challenge right at the very top of the BHRC"

"We're delighted to have Shawn and Declan back with us for 2014" said championship secretary John Hunt. "They proved last year that they are one of the very best pinto engine crews in the country and we cannot wait to see what they can achieve as part of the BHRC in 2014"

The 2014 Mintex MSA BHRC is the only National Historic Championship to offer its competitors the chance to prove themselves on Gravel and Asphalt.

Special Stage return for 2014 TV deal

The 2014 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship are delighted to confirm the return of Special Stage Rally Review as their 2014 TV providers.

Last year saw the team of Olly, Wayne, Phill, Brid, Luke, Simon and more take on all the rounds of the championship, bringing exciting and interesting coverage into people's living rooms on Motors TV.

Special Stage producer Wayne Goldring said. "We are delighted to be returning as part of the BHRC team for 2014. For us, the British Historic Championship compliments everything else we cover for our Special Stage series, and offers our viewers a show dedicated to genuine and varied historic rallying, something which they cannot get anywhere else."

"For us the championship proved itself in 2013 when 5 crews went into the final round with a chance of victory, which makes our job rewarding, knowing that we can still bring exiting coverage to our viewers right up to the very last show of the season. We go into 2014 with the same enthusiastic team, keen to keep building on that profile, and to bring in some new ideas to keep things fresh and relevant to today's viewers." Said Goldring.

Championship Secretary John Hunt said "We're delighted to have Special Stage back onboard for 2014. We believe that they provide the highest quality of Motorsports TV coverage available, with a young exciting and passionate presenting team, and a quality end product in their excellent shows."

The 2014 Mintex BHRC is the only National Historic Championship to offer its competitors the chance to prove themselves on Gravel and Asphalt.

Crews will also fit the RAC Championship sponsors panel and the championship head.

BHRC Championship Secretary John Hunt "We're really happy with this idea, we want to see as many crews out as possible enjoying historic motorsport. Allowing crews to dual-score seems to be the logical way forward for both championships. We wish all crews the best of luck on March 2nd."

The 2014 Mintex British Historic Rally Championship will once again see crews competing on the biggest motorsports events in the country.

The MSA's Premier Historic Championship will be the only national historic championship to offer the challenge of both asphalt and gravel stages.

It's not just the variation of surface that makes the championship so special, but the quality of the stages that crews will be using.

Speaking on behalf of the BHRC John Hunt said "Our events will use stages included on Wales Rally GB, the infamous "Killer Keilder", the amazing asphalt lanes of Ulster and The Isle Of Man and the unrivalled speed of the Epynt Ranges. We are hugely excited to welcome crews new and old to participate in what promises to be a fantastic championship in 2014"

The crews will compete on the biggest events with electric atmospheres, huge crowds and all the glitz and glamour that come with being alongside the British Rally Championship.

On top of the hustle and bustle of major city center starts and finishes, BHRC crews will be featured in the best quality motorsports programming, on Motors TV, thanks to Special Stage UK and their award winning presenting team.

Triple British Historic Champion Guy Weaver will once again be sitting alongside David Stokes in the iconic Ford Escort MK1"Looking at the BHRC for 2014 there are top quality stages and events to look forward to. We'll be travelling to the biggest events in the UK and using what I believe are the best gravel stages in the country. David and I really enjoy the asphalt element of the championship as well. This year we have the Harry Flatters, Ulster and the Isle of Man to get to grips with. 2014 is looking like a really exciting year"
