1970 Austin 1800S
For sale : 1970 Austin 1800S.
As standard, the 'S' had twin carbs, 3 pot caliper brakes and 4 branch exhaust
manifold, Dual circuit brakes , 3 pot calipers and servo.
It has had 4 former keepers and current mileage of 77k. Extensive history
including most previous MOTs support the mileage.
Eligible for most classic rallying (e.g. HRCR clubmans). MSA HRVIF with car
The car is in excellent condition and has been built as a Historic Rally car.
It is in the fetching period original colour of Antelope Brown with red
interior.
The performance modifications make the car very drivable with surprising
performance.
The exterior and interior of the car are largely untouched by the rally modifications which improve the performance and handling.
This car has been totally reliable and only used on relatively gentle one-day
road rallies in the last 3 years.
It is MOTed until November 2012 and taxed (free) until July 2012.
Rebuilt engine (in 2002):
Peter Burgess ported, polished, balanced unleaded engine with Piper 285 cam.
Bored out to 1845cc
Rolling road tuned in 2009 by Peter Burgess, measured 105bhp at the wheels.

Refurbished twin SU carbs with modified throttle linkage and K and N air
filters.
Modified Marathon suspension with mini dampers on the front and rubber limiters
on the back as per works cars (reduces the bouncing these cars were famous for)

The bodywork is excellent with no rust. It had new genuine BMC sills in 2002

It has had a new genuine BMC front offside wing, a new genuine BMC front
valance and the wings, valance and bonnet were repainted (in 2002).
The brake servo was fully reconditioned in 2009.
It comes with handbook, workshop manual and a host of old MOTs and bills.
It also has a number of spares including the original steering wheel,
driveshafts, rear suspension arms, etc etc.
The car is ready to compete in Historic Road Rallies (e.g. HRCR) or as a
reliable and quick hobby car.

Toyota Corolla Levin
Post Historic Rally Car - 1977 TOYOTA COROLLA LEVIN
The Levin is the sportiest in the ubiquitous Corolla range. This model is based on the third iteration, being the TE37 version that was produced from 1975 to 1979. It was powered by a 1588cc twin-cam engine producing 124bhp instandard form to propel a relatively light coupe.
Unique
This particular example is unique, being the only known example in the Northern hemisphere. It is believed to be an ex Team Toyota New Zealand car that was campaigned successfully for one season. It was subsequently sold to a private owner and became a well known NZ club car, competing in rallies, sprints, hill climbs and autotests, etc., for years to come. The most recent events are documented in the RACNZ Logbook.
Bare shell rebuild
The current owner imported IN 913 in late 2003 as his existing car needed a re-shell. The plan was to do a quick rebuild while replacing the AE86 engine and gearbox with the correct one from his current car. On closer examination and to comply with the HRCR regulations at the time, a bare shell rebuild was decided on to ensure a proper job. The eventual cost was in the order of £25,000+ by the time work was completed in April 2006. It was then given the UK registration RJM 149R.
Many changes
The work was mainly entrusted to John Welch Motorsport who attended to the seam welded and turreted bodyshell and GP Engineering who looked after the mechanical side. Many additional features and changes were incorporated such as a laminated windscreen, Safety Devices rollcage, adjustable pedal box by Gartrac, high ratio steering, alloy rear brake drums, electric fuel pumps, 6"x13" Minilite style wheels with Yokohama rubber, strut brace, Terratrip, and so-on.
Engine and Gearbox
The Levin is now powered by a correct for type, 'Big Valve' rally engine with a close ratio five speed gearbox. They're connected to a 5.1(?) limited slip differential housed the Levin back axle. A 4 branch manifold and Maniflow exhaust system complete the picture.
Suspension
Damping is taken care of by Bilsteins at the rear with Japanese Strut inserts controlling the front end, a set-up designed for smooth (New Zealand) gravel stages. The axle is also been properly attached to the bodyshell within the scope of the homologation papers. Axle tramp, what's that?
No competitions
Since refurbishment the car has been stored in Fleet as the owner is now resident in Thailand. No rallies have been entered. The only competitive mileage was a short shakedown to make sure 'nothing fell off' and that expectations were lived up to.
Spares
There is a huge spares package that comes with the car. Apart from body parts there is a spare engine and 5 speed close ratio gearbox with many mechanical parts. Various electrical components and sundry other items.
