Competitive and Affordable Historic Rallying

These daytime regularity rallies are as competitive as historic rallying can get, without requiring the finances for special stage rallying or the stamina for all-night rallying. All events in the series include some special tests on private land where you can use your driving skill to compete against the clock. There's also plenty of regularity road mileage where you'll need to closely watch your average speed whilst navigating your way around the map to find various control points.

Great Variety

Every rally in the series has a different organiser and is run in a different area, so there's plenty of variety as each presents a different challenge to driver, navigator and classic car. All events run at weekends, and just on a single day, so for the majority of us there's no need to use up valuable holidays. Have a look through the championship calendar and see which of the rallies you might like to enter.

Cars up to 1981

Any historic road rally car complying with the MSA Category 1 (up to 1967), Categrory 2 (1967-74) or Category 3 (1975-81) technical regulations can compete in the championship.

Points are scored on overall classification order in each round with just the best 5 scores being counted from the 8 rounds. Three experience-based categories, Master, Clubman and Newcomer, give everyone a good chance of collecting a championship award at the end of the year.

Pre-1960 Awards

If you compete in the Clubmans Rally Championship in a pre-1960 car, you will be eligible to win the HRCR's special Pre-60 Awards.  These will be presented to the driver and navigator considered to be the most active and successful across the HRCR's range of road and stage rally championships in a pre-1960 car.

2008 Champions: Jonathan Hancox and Richard Lambley, Triumph TR4

4th overall on the Tour of Cheshire, Ilkley Jubilee, Cloverleaf and Regis Rallies, 8th on the Hughes Rally and 10th on the Leukaemia, was just enough for Jonathan Hancox & Richard Lambley to secure the 2008 Richard Egger Insurance HRCR Clubmans Rally Championship in their works rally replica Triumph TR4 '7VC'.  It wasn't until the final round that they clinched their victory, holding the lead that they took after the penultimate round from the Citroen DS of Warren and Jean Chmura.

The championship winning car, Triumph TR4 '7VC', has a website of its own, at http://www.7vc.co.uk/

Help for Newcomers

If you're a new HRCR member and want to go historic rallying, attending a Newcomers Rally School day is the best way to start. These days are absolutely ideal for complete beginners to historic road rallying and also suitable for competitors who have done a few rallies and wish to learn more to improve their performance, or find out what they've been doing wrong! The instruction is particularly tuned to the type of events that will comprise the HRCR Clubmans Rally Championship. The HRCR runs these training days periodically and in various locations.   >> Further Information
