HRCR 100 Rally Series 2008

The 'HRCR 100 Rally Series' of daytime regularity rallies is being aimed at newcomers to historic rallying, although the events may also appeal to some more experienced crews who prefer events with straightforward tulip type navigation.  They are ideal for those wanting to progress to something more competitive than Scenic Tours, but without the stresses caused by navigational problem solving.

The '100' in the series title means that each rally has a route of 100 miles, which is rather shorter than most single day events.  This allows several 30-minute rest halts to be scheduled into the day, so that everyone can catch up any lost time and restart on time after each break.

There are five confirmed dates for 2008 at present.  Click on the event names for more information.

The sociable, low-key, 100-mile events will be open to HRCR members in any type of historic or classic car, but with preference given to first-timers and to older cars.  Entry fees will be low (typically only £30), and events won't start before 10am.

Competition licences will not be needed and all events will keep to the same basic beginner-friendly format.  Of the events listed above, all except the Kent 100 Rally will be limited to a maximum entry of 12 cars (making the organisation a lot easier), but it is hoped to be able to run larger entries in more areas as the series develops.

To register your interest in the HRCR 100 Rally Series, please complete your details in the on-line Registration Form.  Sorry, but submission of this form cannot be guaranteed to give any priority of entry to events, although you would be among the first to receive regs and entry forms.

Newcomers Rally Schools

The HRCR's popular Newcomers Rally Schools will be concentrating on the basics of rallying, particularly ensuring that beginners receive sufficient instruction to obtain maximum enjoyment from competing in the HRCR 100 Rallies as a stepping stone to Clubmans Rally Championship or Night Rally Championship events.

Three Newcomers Rally School one-day courses are run each year, one each in the North (January),  South-East (March) and South-West (November).

Each one-day course starts with lectures on the varied aspects of historic rallying, such as the format of events, car preparation, maps and navigation.  Then the afternoon session includes plotting and driving a 15-mile road route where you can put into practice what you have just learned.
